IU was born on May 16, 1993, in Seoul, South Korea. Her real name is Lee Ji-eun. She always loved music and dreamed of being a singer. But her family faced many challenges, so she lived with her grandmother for a while. Despite the hardships, IU never gave up on her dreams.
